FAQ

Does this compare line-by-line, character-by-character, or both?

Both, layered — line alignment always runs first, then you choose whether the inline highlight within changed lines is character-, word-, or line-granularity. Line mode skips inline highlighting and just marks whole lines added or removed.

Is there a size limit?

No cap on pasted or typed text. Uploading a file caps at 5MB — beyond that, paste the content directly instead.

Can I collapse unchanged sections back down after expanding them?

Not currently — you can expand a collapsed unchanged section to see it, but there's no way to re-collapse it afterward in this version; each section only ever expands, one-way, for the rest of that comparison.

What's the difference between this and JSON Diff?

JSON Diff understands JSON structure (keys, nesting, array order); this tool treats input as plain text — better for prose, code, logs, or non-JSON content.

Is my text sent to a server?

No — unlike some diff tools that send text to a server for comparison, this runs entirely in your browser, which matters for source code or sensitive text.
